Drawing Fundamentals I (Summer 2013)

Banish any fears you might have about your ability to draw by learning the basics! This course is an introduction the language of drawing and how it is used to communicate what and how we observe the world around us. Students will focus on: 1) shapes and edges, 2) proportion and measurement, 3) light and shadow and 4) the illusion of space or perspective. ​​

Adult Visual Art Class
Offered via The Drawing Studio (TDS).
No prerequisite, all levels are welcome from beginner to advanced.

Materials List for this Class

  • Charcoal – 1 box of Académie Fusains HB Medium ®Nitram or any brand of vine charcoal
  • Pencil - Pure woodless graphite HB (Preferred brands: ® General's, ®Koh-I-Noor, ® Faber-Castell PITT)
  • Eraser - Tuff Stuff Eraser Stick (® Paper Mate, no other brand substitutes please!)
  • Paper – heavyweight (at least 70 lbs or 80 lbs) any size equal to or larger than a 11” x 17” sheet, loose leaf, sketchbook or sketch pad
  • Sandpaper - Fine grit from 300 - 400 works best for sharpening charcoal or pencils

All supplies can be found at an art supply store. If you have any questions, we will go over the supply list on the first day of class.
