Richeson Landscape, Seascape & Architecture Juried Exhibition 2014

47 Miles to Tucson, oil on board. oil on board. 18x36.

The Jack Richeson School hosts various art competitions throughout the year each with a unique genre. They are called the Richeson 75 Competitions and artists from all over the world submit their pieces for entry. The Richeson 75 competitions are meant to offer a venue in which established and emerging artists may show their latest, best work to a wide and appreciative audience. Only 75 pieces are chosen to be on exhibit in the gallery as well as appear in a hardcover book for that competition genre.

This year "47 Miles to Tucson" was accepted into the show!

This is what I see every time I hit the ‘47 miles to Tucson’ mile marker on the way home from Phoenix. I love the shape at the top of Picacho Peak, I think everyone in Southern Arizona recognizes ‘the peak’. During the afternoon, you can really see some terrific dark rich shadows on the side of the mountain that add a bit of mystery to this intriguing desert landscape.
